“NO” continues on Open Office XML

Looks like Microsoft has bad days ahead on Open Office XML. After being humiliated badly in Sweden for bribing the members and buying the votes, Swedish OOXML vote has been declared invalid. The SIS says that it was due to the fact that one of the participating companies had voted two times, whereas a company can cast only one vote. New Zealand too says it NO vote on OOXML. Grant Thomas,Chief Operating Officer,Standard New Zealand said that council had decided that NO is the best vote for its country Denmark too shows Thumbs Down to OOXML after some of companies said that they have experienced pressures from the Software giant. Microsoft has been accused of trying its best to control the process and bribing in Denmark for getting its vote in Dansk Standards. France did not show up a proper concensus on this topic but they really showed a NO sign to Microsoft whereas US may now vote YES on the proposed draft after lately it was falling short of one vote in US standards body. All over the world, the standards body of each country are on lips of people, its highly debated that how adverse effect OOXML may bring. Whatever it may be but this all drama has seen a a sudden surge in membership in the Voting bodies of standardization organizations and interest of members getting themselves ‘P’ privilege status in ISO.
